"Geltrude Comensoli" Centre of Spirituality and Culture

Description

The Geltrude Comensoli Center for Spirituality and Culture is an accommodation facility for the temporary stay of people or groups who share a path of faith and Christian spirituality. It is organised to offer a relaxing, welcoming and serene environment, where the guest has the opportunity to rediscover human and Christian values, experience moments of silence, prayer, study and reflection in relaxation, deepen one's own experience of faith, dedicating time to the care of the spirit and to the formative commitment, in a relationship of respect, sharing and cordiality with everyone. The Centre also offers the possibility of combining spiritual experience with cultural formation through the organisation of courses, meetings, round tables and conferences. The Centre is managed, outside the normal commercial and promotional channels, on a non-profit basis, since the exercise of this activity, even within an adequate organisational structure, indispensable and fundamental for its development, constitutes an immediate tool and directed for the full realisation and attainment of the Institute's goals of religion and worship.

The villa, once called "Villa Gamba" from the name of the former owner, passed to the Institute of the Sacramentine Sisters in 1955. The intention of opening the house was to offer hospitality to the nuns who, after a stay in Ponte Selva, they were declared cured by the attending physicians, but still needed a period of convalescence. It was called "Villalta di San Raffaele", with an implicit request to the Archangel to intercede for the rehabilitation and healing of the Sisters.

The first community settled in Villalta di San Raffaele in May 1957.

Over the years, the house was then used to host the spiritual exercises of the nuns and the meetings of some categories of lay people.

After a period of renovation and expansion, the house was reopened.

Since September 2013 its new name is:

“Geltrude Comensoli” Centre of Spirituality and Culture.
