They are located in Valbondione, in the heart of the Seriana Valley, in the beautiful landscape of the Maslana basin, surrounded by the highest Orobic peaks and alpine woods.
In 1931 with the construction of a dam for the production of hydroelectric energy, the course of the Serio River was interrupted. However, in the summer season, from June to October, the plant is opened on 5 special occasions. 10 thousand cubic metres of water in free fall, the wonder of the force of nature is unleashed.
In 2023 the dam will be open from 11:00am to 11:30am on 11th June, 20th August, 10th September and 8th October. And do not miss the spectacular night show, from 10:00pm to 10:30 pm on 15th July. On this occasion the triple jump of the waterfalls will be illuminated by powerful reflectors, creating a unique atmosphere.
To reach the best observation point of the waterfalls, you need to start from Valbondione. From there, follow the path that leads to one of the most loved and frequented mountain refuges in Bergamo, the Curò Mountain Refuge, along the convenient mule track (CAI path 305). After an hour and a half walk in the green of the Seriana Valley, amid mountain villages and beautiful landscapes, you will reach your destination. A path suitable for everyone, even for families with children.
