The Carbonara Festival returns to Mozzo. Thirty-five chefs straight from the capital will enliven the three-day event—September 25, 26, and 27—with their delicacies. Organized by the Municipality of Mozzo, the festival will showcase the best of Roman cuisine for the second consecutive year.
The Carbonara Festival will take place in the green space of the Prato delle Associazioni (Via Orobie) on Friday, September 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Sunday, September 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday evening will feature a DJ set from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
This Saturday features a concert by the Big Mozzo Band, with swing and blues classics, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., followed by a group performing Roman folk songs and live Italian music from 9:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Finally, on Sunday, music from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with artists straight from Rome.
The Carbonara Festival menu is incredibly varied: pasta alla carbonara, cacio e pepe, amatriciana, artichokes alla giudia, zucchini flowers, amatriciana-style supplì, cacio e pepe-style supplì, carbonara-style supplì, gricette, salt cod fillet, french fries, oxtail in tomato sauce, meatballs in sauce, scottadito lamb, Roman-style tripe, beans with pork rinds, chicken cacciatore, porchetta from Ariccia, coratella, mixed grill, coppiette, original Roman pinsa in 8 varieties, Roman puccia in 6 varieties, bombe and ciambelle, pangocciole, and maritozzi with cream. And to drink: cold beers, cocktails, spritzes, and wine from the Castelli region.
The Festival will feature dishes specially designed for vegans and vegetarians; for those with celiac disease, the organizers will provide a certified, gluten-free mobile kitchen, where visitors can sample three traditional first courses, fried foods, the authentic porchetta sandwich from the Castelli IGP region, and the desserts of the day.
The Carbonara Festival’s food and beverage services will be available throughout the event’s opening hours. Tables and benches will be available so you can enjoy your dinner in comfort (no reservation required; seating is first-come, first-served); however, all dishes are also available for takeout.
