The tourist tax is a tax established under Article 4 of Legislative Decree No. 23 of March 14, 2011. Each municipality may decide to establish this tax, by resolution of the City Council, to be paid by those staying in accommodation facilities in its territory. Its revenue is intended to finance interventions in favor of tourism, maintenance, enjoyment and recovery of cultural and environmental assets, as well as local public services.
NEW BERGAMO MUNICIPAL STAY TAX FROM APRIL 1, 2025
From April 1, 2025 the amount of the tax rises to 7 percent of the cost, the maximum limit of €5 per person per overnight stay for a maximum of 5 consecutive days remains unchanged.
NEW TOWN OF BERGAMOTOURIST TAX FROM AUGUST 1, 2023
From August 1, 2023, overnight stays at“youth hostels” are exempt from tourist tax.
Also from that date for other facilities, the amount of the levy at 6 percent of the cost includes a maximum limit of 5 euros per person per overnight stay.
Accompanying teachers will also be exempt from the tax on duty during school educational visits, to the extent of one for every fifteen accompanied minors, and law enforcement officers who stay overnight for service requirements.
