Bergamo is located in the heart of northern Italy, in the center of the Lombardy region.
Its location is ideal for visiting all of northern Italy; it is only 40 km from Milan and Brescia and only two hours from Venice and Turin. In a short time you can reach Lake Como and Lake Garda and all the major tourist attractions in the area.
The Milan Bergamo International Airport, just 5 kilometres from the city, is an international airport with over 130 connected destinations.
A shuttle bus to the city centre departs from the airport every 20 minutes. This is the ATB line 1 bus, which operates daily from 4:50 am to around 1:30 am (starting at 6:30 am on holidays). The bus departs from platform no. 1, located in the Arrivals area of the airport.
From Bergamo city centre, the airport can be reached via the ATB line 1 Airport bus, which also runs every 20 minutes, starting from 4:30 am (from the Station stop) until around 1:00 am.

Bergamo is directly connected with Milan, Lecco and Brescia. Travel time from Milan and Brescia is about 50 minutes, about 40 instead from Lecco. The city’s FS train station is located in Piazzale Guglielmo Marconi in the center of town.
Every ten minutes, ATB bus Line 1a departs from the railway station to the lower funicular station, which provides access to Bergamo Alta.
From Milan Lampugnano, San Donato, and Milano Piazzale ai Laghi you can reach the Bergamo Bus Station via Flixbus, Itabus, and Nord Est Trasporti (line Z301).

For tour operator buses bringing groups to visit the city, a free parking area is available in via Spino – Market Area, open every day except on local market days.
Bergamo can be reached via the A4 Milan-Venice freeway (Bergamo Exit).
The center of Bergamo has several restricted traffic zones, some always active and inaccessible, others active at certain times.
