Clusone

Description

The mountains all around Clusone give it its stunning beauty.

The sunny highland where it is located is the perfect place to enjoy the forests of the Orobie Mountains surrounding the village, to start a walk towards the Presolana Massif, or even to reach the numerous ski resorts of the valley.

Instead, strolling across its streets is the best way to admire the fantastic frescos decorating the most significant buildings of the village, such as the Town Hall or the Clock Tower. Some of them are truly outstanding, like the cycle dedicated to Death at the Disciplini Oratory: observe it carefully, it’s the best-preserved one in Europe!

The geographical position makes this village an amazing destination for a one-day trip or some holidays. In fact, Clusone is surrounded by the Orobie Pure-Alps pure nature.

In summer you can enjoy its mild temperature and the numerous hiking paths; winter is the best time to enjoy the mountains covered with snow, without forsaking the sun, thanks to the perfect exposure of the village!

Clusone is also an extremely interesting historic site. The frescos in the Disciplini Oratory date back to the Middle Age, while the complex astronomical clock (still working with the original mechanical pieces) has astonished the visitors for four hundred years!

Last but not least, don’t forget that once a year this hamlet becomes the centre of world jazz. In fact, the Clusone Jazz Festival attracts jazz musicians from all over the world every year: come enjoy them laying among the old streets.

Moreover…

After a walk in the woods or a visit to all the cultural sites in Clusone, you deserve a break! In local restaurants you can enjoy the best traditional dishes of the Seriana Valley, such as the “Scarpinocc” (fresh stuffed pasta) and the polenta with rabbit.

Clusone is part of the Orange Flag Villages, a touristic-environmental quality recognition conferred by the Italian Touring Club (TCI) to small towns in the Italian hinterland (maximum 15,000 inhabitants) which stand out for their excellent offer and quality hospitality.
