From Saturday 2 March to Sunday 2 June

Roman Lovere. From the Treasury to the Necropolis

Roman Lovere. From the Treasury to the Necropolis

Description

If you are a history and archaeology enthusiast, in Lovere you can dive into the exciting discovery of Roman-era life and funerary customs thanks to the finds unearthed at Valvendra.

Balanced between storytelling, contextualization and - for the youngest - educational play, the new exhibition on Lake Iseo reveals to you the excavations of the necropolis recovered from 2015, to date among the few vestiges of the settlement that was Lovere in Roman times. The objects brought to light will tell you about a thriving emporium, important because of its proximity to Civitas Camunnorum (today's Cividate Camuno) and at the confluence of communication routes between Bergamo, Sebino and Val Camonica.

Along the exhibition route you can also admire the first chance finds from the early 19th century and the so-called "treasure," discovered in 1907, which returns from the Milan Archaeological Museum especially for this exhibition. Be fascinated by vases, ornaments, necklaces, gold and silver bezeled rings, objects of daily life, oil lamps and game dice, against the backdrop of a panoramic reconstruction of the lake necropolis.
