Fontana di Antescolis

Fontana di Antescolis

Description

According to the charter of 1251, among the seventeen extant communities of Bergamo, the only one not bearing the name of a church was the one of “Antescolis”, probably so called because it was located in front of the school building, where the meetings of the three community consuls took place.

One of the characteristics of this fountain - which, from a structural point of view is similar to the others - is to have two arches instead of just one, both are connected by a transversal arch in the frontal part.
