Mission

What is agency?

The Agency was created by the specific will of the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce, Bergamo Province and Bergamo Municipality to develop all initiatives that can contribute to the promotion of the tourist economic system of the province of Bergamo, while respecting and enhancing the values of the territory and the environment. What are its aims? The aims of the agency are:

  • to know and study the vocations and tourism potential in the territorial scope of the Province of Bergamo, including through market research and statistics in order to improve the relationship between demand and supply;
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives of public and private operators in the province of Bergamo in the tourism sector by offering all the necessary support for the implementation of projects and initiatives;
  • Directly carry out marketing actions, quality programs, promotions and advertising campaigns in order to enhance the image of the city and province of Bergamo;
  • Participate in fairs, workshops, exchanges, and events in Italy and abroad;
  • Promote, develop and upgrade tourism facilities including by identifying and sourcing the necessary resources both locally, regionally, nationally and in the EU.

VisitBergamo is the brand name of the Agency for Tourism Development and Promotion of the Province of Bergamo, which was established on October 17, 2001.

In these pages are published documents, information and data interenti the organization of the Agency for the Development and Tourism Promotion of the Province of Bergamo, limited to the activity of public interest exercised by the Consortium, as an instrumental body of the public shareholders, as provided for by the regulations in force. According to the aforementioned legislation, in fact, companies and entities in which public administrations have a stake and are controlled are required to apply the rules on transparency limited to paragraphs 15 to 33 of Art. 1 L. no. 190/2012.

The agency makes use of internship and work-school alternation paths to strengthen collaborative relationships with schools and foster knowledge of the world of work for students.

School work alternation

Since 2017, an intense collaboration with VaProTur (the Tourism Cluster that aggregates several tourism-oriented high schools) has led several students to participate in events that the agency has run in collaboration with other entities (Ulisse Fest, Cult City, Astino nel gusto, Settimana dell’Agricultura, etc.).

Internships

The agency activates internships, usually at the airport tourist information and reception office. Usually internship proposals are posted on the University of Bergamo website considering the close cooperation between the agencies. If requests are received from students attending other schools or universities, new agreements may be established.

Whistleblowing

On March 30, 2023, Legislative Decree 24/2023 came into force, which transposed EU Directive 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and Council of October 23, 2019 into Italian law and entirely revised the entire whistleblowing regulations.

(hereinafter also “the Company”) has activated its own whistleblowing reporting channels that guarantee the confidentiality of the identity of the reporting personnel, the person involved and anyone mentioned in the report, as well as the content of the report.

Who can report?

  • Employed workers;
  • Workers with part-time, intermittent, fixed-term, temporary, administration, apprenticeship, ancillary work contracts;
  • Workers performing occasional services;
  • Self-employed workers who perform work for the Company;
  • Freelancers and consultants who serve the Company;
  • Volunteers and interns, paid or unpaid, who serve with the Society;
  • Suppliers of goods and services of the Company;
  • Shareholders;
  • Persons who, even de facto, hold administrative, management, control, supervisory or representative positions in the Company.

What can be reported?

A behavior or situation contrary to the Organization Management and Control Model adopted pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/2001, and the Company’s Code of Ethics may be reported.

How to report?

Reports can be sent to the Supervisory Board appointed under Legislative Decree 231/2001 through the following channels:

Timing of the reporting process
Sending notice of receipt of the report to the reporter – Immediately, but no later than 7 days after receipt of the report
Response to the report
– Within 3 months (extendable up to 6 months in the case of justified and substantiated reasons) from the date of the acknowledgement of receipt
– in the absence of the acknowledgement of receipt, within 3 months (extendable up to 6 months in the case of justified and substantiated reasons) after the expiration of the 7-day period from the submission of the report
Response to request to schedule a face-to-face meeting
– No later than 7 days after the request for a face-to-face meeting is received
Fixing the day of the direct meeting
– Within 10 days after the request for a face-to-face meeting is received
– In cases of proven urgency, within 5 days after the request for a face-to-face meeting is received

The external reporting channel and public disclosure

Whistleblowers may use the external channel operated by ANAC at https://servizi.anticorruzione.it/segnalazioni/ only in the following cases:

  • an internal reporting channel does not appear to be effectively activated, or this does not comply with Legislative Decree 24/2023;
  • a report has already been made to the internal channel, but this has not been followed up;
  • the reporter has a well-founded fear that, if he or she used the internal channel, he or she would not receive effective follow-up or might be subjected to retaliation;
  • the reporter has probable cause to believe that the violation may constitute imminent or obvious danger to the public interest.

Whistleblowers may, also, make public disclosure (press and other means of dissemination such as social networks), upon the occurrence of one of the following conditions:

  • the reporter has previously made an internal and external report or has made an external report directly and no response has been made;
  • the reporter has probable cause to believe that the violation may pose an imminent or obvious danger to the public interest;
  • the reporter has good reason to believe that the external report may involve the risk of retaliation or may not be effectively followed up because of the specific circumstances of the case.

What protections are provided?

The Company guarantees the confidentiality of the identity of the reporter, the person involved, the contents of the report, and the documentation attached at the time of the report or subsequently collected or processed.

The identity of the reporter and any other information from which it may be inferred, directly or indirectly, may not be disclosed, without the express consent of the reporter, to persons other than those competent to receive or follow up on reports and expressly authorized to process such data.

The Company will not tolerate any kind of threat, retaliation, unjustified sanction or discrimination against the whistleblower, the whistleblower and those who have cooperated in the feedback activities regarding the merits of the Report. The adoption of discriminatory or retaliatory measures against the reporter may give rise to disciplinary proceedings against the manager.

Whistleblower protection also applies if the report is made in the following cases:

  • when the employment relationship has not yet begun, if information about Violations was acquired during the selection process or other pre-contractual stages;
  • During the probationary period;
  • subsequent to the dissolution of the legal relationship if the information on Violations was acquired during the course of the relationship.

The protections afforded to the reporter are also extended:

  • To the Facilitator;
  • to persons in the same work environment as the reporter with a stable emotional or kinship link within the fourth degree;
  • to the reporter’s co-workers with whom they have a regular and current relationship;
  • to entities owned by the reporter or for which the reporter works, as well as entities that operate in the same work environment
