Parking in Bergamo is easy!
An extensive network of parking lots makes it easy for you to reach both the modern city center and the charming Upper Town.

Below you will find all the information you need to leave your car safely and enjoy your visit to the fullest.

Parking in the Upper Town

Attention: During the activation of the restricted traffic zone (Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sundays and holidays between 10 a.m. and noon and between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) , people without permits can reach the three public parking lots in the historic center (Via Tre Armi, Porta Sant'Alessandro and Via Fara), passing through the Viale Vittorio Emanuele gateway only.

You can park in the Upper Town easily.
The Old Town area is largely pedestrian friendly but is served by convenient paid parking lots.

The restricted traffic zones

If you transit through the city with your car, you need to pay special attention to the restricted traffic zones, some of which are always active and inaccessible, others active only on certain days and times.
In particular, access to Città Alta is prohibited on holidays from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Parking lots

There are also other parking areas in the city center that are ideal for those who wish to conveniently reach the main shopping streets, museums, and places of historical interest. All parking lots are easily accessible and well connected by public transportation.

Interchange parking lots

Along the main access routes to the city of Bergamo, there are free parking lots connected to the city center by buses and streetcars.

At the Bergamo Fairgrounds there is a parking lot with 300 free spaces and served by line 1.

Located at 149 San Bernardino Street, the free interchange parking lot formerly Bonini, open 24 hours a day, has a capacity of up to 150 vehicles and is served by line 6.

Parking on blue stripes

The “blue stripes” are the paid parking areas, on public roads.

  • You pay hourly parking based on the area: the closer you get to the center the higher the cost/hour.
  • Example:
    • Red belt (central area): €2.20/hour, maximum stay 3 hours.
    • Orange band (semi-central area): €1.70/hour, maximum stop 5 hours.
    • Yellow belt (most suburban area): €1.20/hour, maximum stay 10 hours.
  • Times when you pay: generally on weekdays from 8:00 (or 9:00) to 7:00/20:00.
  • How to pay: at parking meters (with multi-language displays), or with apps/digital systems such as Telepass Pay, EasyPark, DropTicket, etc.
