Tireless work by the Municipality and Sci Club Peia to propose again this year an event increasingly appreciated by athletes, public and sponsors. Peia is preparing the 2026 edition (fifth in the series) of the Trail della Lana to be held in the mountains of Val Gandino on Sunday, September 20.
The organizing machine, headed by Peia Sciclub President Dante Brignoli and his Team, is reviving the event that retraces the ancient wool trade routes.
Confirmed, after last year’s positive experience, the long distance experiment, with double start at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. in front of City Hall. Registration will be possible from May 1.
The highest point of the route will be at Cima Sparavera at 1,336 meters above sea level, but it is also impossible not to mention Madonna del Pizzo overlooking the Gandino Valley.
Last year’s fourth edition of the Trail della Lana had seen in the “short race” the victories of Michele Laudadio of Runaway Milano (1:47:54) and Chiara Di Ceglie of Vanotti Running Team (1:58:20). In the “long race” success had gone to Stefano Rota of Pegarun (3:21:08) and Silvia Mazzoleni Ferracini of Runners Bergamo (4:25:33).
Registration will be open to a maximum of 250 athletes. The Trail will again be affiliated with the CSEN circuit (it is a race with a compulsory competitive medical certificate and compulsory Csen, Fidal or Runcard membership).
Prizes will be awarded to the top five men and top five women in each race with a value voucher, and a special prize will be added for those who break the record, both male and female of the “short” course.
The anticipation is all for Sept. 20 when the great sports celebration of the Wool Trail will close with an exciting third half in music.
