Voices of Poetry

Three female voices and a piano tell the story of love through music, from the Baroque era to the 20th century.

The Baroque represents the Age of Disorder, in which composers set aside all established knowledge to indulge in “the risky thrill of experimentation,” leaving behind a legacy of music that is alive, unstable, and therefore infinitely modern. The title of the series, “The Future Is Baroque,” stems precisely from this awareness: in the Baroque, we find the origin of all contemporary exploration, the spark of invention, and the freedom of a language in transformation.

Three female voices and a piano bring to life all the facets of love: separation, abandonment, and playfulness. Through Baroque opera arias and 20th-century songs, each section explores a different emotion, creating a dialogue across the centuries between classical and modern composers. A musical portrait in which poetry becomes song and emotion knows no age. Featuring sopranos Letizia Barzaghi, Elisabetta Nessi, and Giorgia Tornatore, with Marco Regazzi at the piano: an evening presented by the Young Artists section of the G. Donizetti Conservatory. The evening begins with a self-guided tour of the palace’s historic halls, followed by a meet-and-greet with the artists on the terrace. Limited seating.
