A guided tour exploring three historic religious buildings in Upper Bergamo, covering their history, architectural transformations, and artistic features that can still be seen today.
A guided tour takes participants on a journey to discover the religious buildings of Lower Bergamo (western side) that were deconsecrated during the 19th century, offering an opportunity to learn more about their history, transformations, and current uses.
The tour traces the history of these ancient places of worship, recounting their transition from their original purpose to new uses and highlighting the historical and architectural value they continue to hold. Particular attention will be given to the surviving decorative elements—precious artistic artifacts that allow us to reconstruct the buildings’ original identity and understand their importance within the urban context of Upper Bergamo.
The tour offers a glimpse into a heritage that is often little known, highlighting buildings that, despite having lost their religious function, continue to tell the story of centuries of the city’s history through their architecture, the decorative elements still visible, and their new uses. An event dedicated to those who wish to discover an unusual side of Lower Bergamo, through art, history, and memory.
