The “Valori Tattili” project is an initiative launched in 2018 aimed at promoting an understanding of museum works through the sense of touch. After an initial experimental phase focused on sculptures from the Federico Zeri collection, the program has been expanded since 2023 to include various types of objects, such as medals and paintings.

Thanks to PNRR funds allocated for the removal of physical, cognitive, and sensory barriers in museums and cultural sites, the initiative has been structured as a model for expanding access to the Accademia Carrara’s heritage. The goal is to provide accessible tools and materials not only to people with disabilities or health challenges but also to the general public interested in a different approach to exploring the collections.

Visiting Policies

The core of the program consists of guided tours led by blind individuals. Each month, blind and visually impaired guides—who have received specialized training—lead tactile tours open to both sighted and blind visitors, allowing them to explore the museum from different sensory perspectives.
