The “Valori Tattili” project was launched in 2018 with the goal of enabling visitors to explore the museum’s works through touch. After an initial experimental phase focused on sculptures from the Federico Zeri collection, the initiative was expanded in 2023 to include various types of objects, such as medals and paintings.

Thanks to the PNRR call for proposals aimed at removing physical, cognitive, and sensory barriers in museums and private cultural sites, the initiative has become a model for broadening access to the museum across the board. The project aims to provide tools and resources that are useful both to people with disabilities and health challenges and to the general public who wish to explore the Accademia Carrara’s heritage from different perspectives.

Features of the tours

The central feature of “Valori Tattili” is the guided tours led by blind individuals. Each month, specially trained blind and visually impaired guides offer tactile tours open to both blind adults and sighted people, allowing visitors to explore the museum’s collections through a unique approach.
