The show, produced by the Enrico Lombardi/Quinta Parete theater company, draws on clowning techniques to offer an alternative vision of reality through the use of the body and imagery. The work is written, directed, and performed by Alessandra Crotti, with artistic consultation by André Casaca and external guidance from Enrico Lombardi. The performance draws inspiration from the stories of Gianni Rodari, including “The Young Shrimp” and “The Road That Led Nowhere,” exploring the theme of the courage to go against the grain and challenging established norms. The production features a single actor who, through playfulness and a sense of unawareness, transforms objects and situations in unexpected ways. The narrative relies almost exclusively on physical expression, minimizing the use of speech to emphasize the unusual and the freedom of desires. The finale of the performance incorporates a voice-over that draws on Rodari’s texts.
