The itinerary includes a visit to the Martinengo Convent, a monumental complex commissioned by Bartolomeo Colleoni and completed in 1475. The tour focuses on highlighting the artistic and religious heritage housed within the building.
Schedule of the visit
The course includes the following sequence of in-depth topics:
a visit to the church, which features frescoes by masters of Lombard painting, including the Master of Martinengo, the Poloni brothers, and Sergio Fasolini;
a look at the four side chapels with altars carved by the Caniana family;
analysis of the partition wall by Pietro Baschenis, created between 1623 and 1627;
a tour of the cloister, which features three 18th-century reflection sundials and the remains of portraits associated with Tisbe da Martinengo;
A tour of the ancient sacristy and refectory to gain an understanding of monastic life.
