This important tradition is being commemorated and carried on by the Val San Martino Winery in Pontida, together with the Pro Loco Pontida, which—under the patronage of the City of Pontida, the Val San Martino Ecomuseum, and the Lario Orientale and Valle San Martino Mountain Community—has organized the sixth edition of the Feast of St. Martin. The festival will take place on Sunday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Val San Martino Winery in Pontida.
The event has become part of the cultural festival “L’Estate di San Martino,” now in its 35th edition, organized by the Val San Martino Ecomuseum.
There will be stalls selling local products, including cheeses, cured meats, vegetables, flour, honey, and jams. There will also be woodworkers, hobbyists, sweets, roasted chestnuts, games for children, salamelle, polenta, fritters, cotton candy, and, of course, good wine, as well as inflatable attractions and games for children.
Local street food is available all day at the winery, featuring excellent regional cuisine prepared by Casera Monaci and polenta from Fattoria che Passione, in addition to the winery’s own wine. Dining is also available at Ristorante La Cantina Bistrò Anchio, located on the grounds of Cantina Val San Martino (reservations at 035.641000).
Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to taste wines from the Val San Martino Winery.
At 11 a.m., there will be a presentation of the book “Stories and Anecdotes from a Mountain Hotel” by Silvia Dalle Crode, which recounts everything that a hotel owner like the author would have preferred not to write down about her guests.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., healthcare professionals from ASST Bergamo Ovest will be on hand for the “Prevention Booth” initiative, offering all visitors the opportunity to have certain clinical parameters measured free of charge.
Moròt will also be there to entertain everyone with his jokes.
Throughout the day, the Pontida Pro Loco will liven up the festivities with the comedy play “Ol preost e la perpetua,” suitable for all ages, with several performances in the afternoon.
At 12:15 p.m., Father Angelo will bless the tubs filled with wine.
The event will take place as scheduled, even in the event of rain, in the covered areas of the winery.
