This event is part of the “Leggere la Musica” series, a program consisting of six sessions designed for those who wish to explore the grammar of sounds and their historical evolution. The initiative is organized by the Angelo Mai Library, the Historical Archives, and the Urban Library System, based on an idea by Maestro Pieralberto Cattaneo and in collaboration with Domenica Bellantone.
Meeting schedule.
This session focuses on a brief history of musical notation and the interpretation of commonly used symbols. We will analyze the relationship between the arrangement of symbols on the page—along the vertical and horizontal axes—and pitch and musical tempo. The analysis will be conducted by examining examples taken from pieces for solo instrument or voice written on a single staff.
Useful information
The initiative is sponsored by the respective cultural committees of the Angelo Mai Library, the Historical Archives, and the Urban Library System.
