Dance Across Time - Art2night

The Melis/Ranieri Duo presents a concert program that bridges the Baroque and contemporary eras, where dance, rhythm, and experimentation span different periods and artistic languages.

“The Baroque represents the Age of Disorder, in which composers set aside all established knowledge to indulge in ‘the risky thrill of experimentation,’ leaving behind a legacy of music that is alive, unstable, and, for this very reason, infinitely modern. The title of the series, “The Future Is Baroque,” stems precisely from this awareness: in the Baroque, we find the origin of all contemporary exploration, the spark of invention, and the freedom of a language in transformation.

Dance as a thread that spans the centuries: from the famous “Follia,” a Baroque theme that generations of composers have endlessly reimagined, to the energy of a Vivaldi concerto, to the passion of De Falla’s Spanish dance, and to works of our own time. Guitar, viola, and cello intertwine in a program where rhythm becomes a narrative and each era finds its most direct voice in movement. The Melis/Ranieri Duo—Camilla Melis on guitar and viola, and Roberto Ranieri on cello—presents an evening organized by the Young Artists section of the G. Donizetti Conservatory, in collaboration with “Art2night—the White Night of Art.” The evening begins with a self-guided tour of the palace’s historic halls, followed by a meet-and-greet with the artists on the terrace.
