The series of evening events for the “Montagne in Villa 2026” festival concludes with a gathering dedicated to Hervé Barmasse. The event is organized by the Fior di Roccia Villa d’Ogna Group to mark the 70th anniversary of the association’s founding.
Barmasse is a mountain guide from Valtournenche, a writer, and a popular science writer. His mountaineering career has included historic ascents in the Alps—particularly the Matterhorn—and in some of the world’s most inaccessible mountain ranges, from Patagonia to the Himalayas.
Agenda for the meeting
The talk focuses on the concept of the horizon as the limit of one’s field of vision and on the possibility of transcending it through imagination and creativity to face life’s challenges. The talk does not focus on celebrating athletic achievements, but rather explores the psychological aspects of mountaineering, analyzing how the courage to make decisions is closely linked to managing fear and vulnerability.
