An exhibition dedicated to Franca Ceruti traces the Bergamo-based painter’s artistic exploration and journey in art therapy, through color, recycled materials, and expressive experimentation.
From Saturday, October 10, through Thursday, October 22, 2026, the gallery of the Circolo Artistico Bergamasco Ets will host “Art as Therapy for the Soul,” an exhibition dedicated to Franca Ceruti, who passed away in Bergamo on January 8, 2016. Ten years after her death, the exhibition traces the artist’s body of work and her journey of exploration in the field of art therapy.
Starting with his early figurative works, Ceruti gradually evolved toward an expressive style closely aligned with postmodern aesthetics, drawing on fiber art and mixed-media art. Threads, fabrics, colored paper, paper clips, safety pins, and other everyday materials become elements in compositions characterized by layering, volume, and vibrant color combinations, through which the artist reinterprets her personal experiences.
Alongside her artistic practice, Ceruti has developed an experimental method based on color, drawing, and the assembly of materials, which she has also explored in depth in several books on art therapy. Her work views creativity as a tool for exploring and expressing emotions, stimulating personal expression, and promoting psychological and physical well-being.
The exhibition is open to the public and can be visited Tuesday through Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., through Thursday, October 22.
