The event, part of the “Il Teatro delle Meraviglie” festival, features a hilarious and tongue-in-cheek theatrical piece about toys and their ability to stimulate children’s ingenuity and freedom of thought.
The event draws on the childhood memories of Giulia, who as a child loved the circus and princes, and her brother Filippo, who was passionate about cooking and toy cars. Through a memory of an aunt who tried to impose gender stereotypes on play, the protagonist relives moments of play by using old toys found in her aunt’s house in unconventional ways. This sets off a whirlwind of situations in which bulldozers, stuffed animals, dolls, hula hoops, strollers, wheelbarrows, and many other toys take center stage in new ways of playing. The show offers a hilarious and ironic look at the world of play, aimed at helping girls and boys become intelligent, resourceful, perceptive, and free-thinking. The goal is to present a different perspective—one that doesn’t divide the world of toys by gender but instead fosters creativity and freedom.
