The first stop on the ring-route Orobie Orientali Trail, Rifugio Alpe Corte is called the refuge without barriers because it is suitable for groups, families with children and equipped to accommodate enthusiasts with mobility difficulties.
At 1410m, it is always open and busy in both summer and winter, and is an excellent starting point to get to Branchino Lake, at 1784m.
Departing from Valcanale, it can be reached in an hour’s walk by taking Trail 220, which winds through the woods. It can also be reached via trail 270A, starting from Baite di Mezzeno, in Val Brembana, in an hour and 40 minutes, passing Marogella Pass, which at 1873 is the highest point on the trail.
The strong point of this lodge is its hospitality: rooms with private bathrooms sleep a total of 30, and to enjoy the highly recommended and revisited dishes, such as cocoa ravioli with ham and apples, blueberry risotto, and apple and amaretto cake, there are 80 seats in the indoor dining room and 150 outdoor seats, where hikers can sit freely. There is also a deck chair rental service to enjoy a break in the sun.
