Among the family-friendly events organized by “Donizetti Opera,” the program includes an interactive opera for young audiences, featuring a workshop based on *Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali*.
A ragtag troupe gathers for rehearsals of a show that, in a sense, will make history. At the helm of the project is the Director, a novice but determined, accompanied by an equally inexperienced set designer, Luigia, who, instead of singing, is trying her hand at set design for the first time—and she’s thrilled about it. She feels particularly happy because for years she’d been trying to find the courage to give up her musical career—a path her mother had been pushing her toward with all her might—and it’s truly difficult to say no to Mamma Agata. But something goes wrong: Mamma Agata, instead of waiting until the night of the performance, decides to visit her daughter at rehearsals to make sure everything is going well and that Luigia has a prominent role in every scene. The Maestro and the Director, aware of Luigia’s struggle, try to help her by distracting Mamma Agata, but this leads to unspeakable consequences. Convinced that Luigia is a great singer, Agata will argue with the entire cast, causing the Tenor to flee and driving the Prima Donna and her husband Procolo to the brink of hysteria.
