Guided tour of the Castle of Grumello del Monte winery with tasting of 3 wines
A way to experience both the history and the present of the Castle of Grumello del Monte, through its classic estate wines and a visit to the medieval cellars.
Castle of Grumello del Monte is a residence of medieval origin, set at the heart of a wine estate in the Valcalepio hills, between Bergamo and Lake Iseo.
From fortress to noble residence and eventually a wine-producing estate, the Castle has over a thousand years of history.
It is a precious historic site that opens its doors daily for guided tours and tastings of its own wines.
The Wines
The Castles wine selection covers the full range of grape varieties grown in the Bergamo area. The reds, in particular, are based on the classic Bordeaux blend Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot produced as Valcalepio Rosso DOC.
Across the estates 15 hectares of vineyards, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio are also grown, forming the traditional blend of Valcalepio Bianco DOC.
A focus on sustainability and modern viticultural practices has led the estate to produce Le Noci, a wine made from resistant PIWI grape varieties, mainly Bronner and Johanniter. Over the years, the estate has also cared for a nearly lost native grape, Merera, preserving another chapter of Bergamos winemaking history.
What to Expect
On the Classic Tour, after an introduction to the estates production philosophy, you will explore its spaces, including the interiors, the private chapel, and the underground cellar. The visit concludes in the beautiful garden, featuring a long avenue of centuries-old horse chestnut trees.
You will also enjoy a tasting of 3 glasses of wines produced by the estate.
