The stage adaptation *Resto qui*, based on the novel by Marco Balzano, presents a production that explores the memory of a community wiped out in the name of progress. Francesco Niccolini directs and adapts the play, with performances by actors Arianna Scommegna and Mattia Fabris. The production is the result of a collaboration between the Teatro Stabile di Bolzano and the Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa.
The story takes place in Curon, in Val Venosta, against a historical backdrop marked by the construction of a dam in 1950. Through the characters of Trina and Erich, husband and wife, the play gives voice to an entire community that faced the upheavals linked to the world wars, changes in nationality, and the political decisions of the time. The story unfolds through an interweaving of narrative segments and dialogue, in which the two protagonists’ perspectives alternate in a complementary manner.
