From September 25 to 27, “Arrampicata in Villa – Tree Climbing Championships” will be held at Suardi Park in Bergamo (accessible via Via San Giovanni and Via Cesare Battisti).

The initiative combines athletic competition with a series of side events aimed at both the general public and industry professionals.

Throughout the competition, there will be “Pillole per tutti” workshops and educational sessions in collaboration with the Bergamo Botanical Garden, chainsaw carving demonstrations, workshops for landscaping professionals, the FantaClimber activity, and a bar service available for the entire duration of the event.

As part of the overall program, Saturday, September 26, will feature a series of lectures and technical presentations titled “Trees and Their Surroundings—Conversations Between Nature, the Local Area, and the Community.”

The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. with an introduction and opening remarks by the officials.
At 3:00 p.m., naturalist Dr. Alberto Chirico will give a presentation focusing on urban birdlife and arboriculture.
Later, at 4:00 p.m., agronomists Cristina Agape and Alice Pezzotta will discuss adaptation to climate change and propose solutions and strategies that can be applied in an urban setting.
At 5:00 p.m., the E.T.T. and agronomist Giovanni Iezzi, together with agronomist Lorenzo Turino, will discuss the topic of planning and assessment in a session titled “Understand Before Managing.”
The series will conclude at 6:00 p.m. with a presentation by Stefano Rota, an insurance broker for the Reale Mutua and Unipol agencies, on risk and liability management, with a specific focus titled “When a Tree Falls: Liability, Maintenance, and Insurance Coverage.”

Sunday begins at 2:00 p.m. with the “Create Your Own Kokedama” workshop, led by Kokedama_laboratorio. The cost is €25 per person for a maximum of 20 participants (reservations are required; please contact Mattia at 349 6778881). Also at 2:00 p.m., “Trees of the World,” led by Armando Battaglia, will take place—an activity designed for children that introduces the world of trees to young ones; the same experience will also be available on Saturday, the 26th, at 2:00 p.m.
The program continues at 3:00 p.m. with “Creative Weaving,” organized by Fili di Fiori: a workshop for children ages 5 and up to make a colorful wool chain and create a unique, personalized item, at a cost of €5 per person. Finally, also at 3 p.m., “Stories from the Hive,” organized by Gandolfi Apicoltura, will take place—an activity for children to learn about bees and their vital role in human life.

The event is organized by the Public Parks Department and the Department of the Environment, Parks, and Ecological Transition, under the patronage of the City of Bergamo and in collaboration with Happy Tree Friends.
