*The Garibaldi Case* is a brilliant comedy, a theatrical mystery set in 1860, in which a Bourbon police commissioner conducts an investigation into an alleged conspiracy against the Crown in a Neapolitan prison. At the center of the interrogation are two men: a Neapolitan pharmacist and a Piedmontese soldier, once friends and now bitter rivals. Both accused of high treason and collaborating with Garibaldi’s forces, the two must try to prove their innocence and resolve a romantic feud. All of this will lead them to face surreal interrogations, duels, romantic skirmishes, plot twists, and constant shifts in perspective, giving rise to a story that intertwines the characters’ private lives with the events that are changing the fate of Italy.
This mystery combines lightheartedness and depth, and the language of farce meets historical narrative, transforming the Risorgimento into a lively theater of passions, rivalries, and conflicting identities. A work that reflects with irony on the crucial moment when the Italian nation was being born.
The Exhibition
The “Fritto Mistico” theater festival is produced by the Poquelin ma Buoni theater company with the support of the Municipality of Presezzo. The initiative, organized by a group of people under 35, was created with the aim of bringing theater and culture closer to the community through a diverse program that includes theater, slam poetry, and stand-up comedy. The festival provides a platform for emerging theater companies and artists from various cities, giving them a stage to share their work.
