The Tasso and Postal History Museum is hosting the international Mail Art exhibition “MAIL ART IN ACTION / FOR RUGGERO MAGGI.” The project is dedicated to the memory and artistic career of Ruggero Maggi, an artist who passed away on October 29, 2025. The initiative is curated by the Museum and by Kappa, a performer and longtime collaborator of the artist with whom Maggi created numerous projects and exhibitions.
Ruggero Maggi was a visual artist, curator, and leading figure in the international avant-garde scene. He participated in the 49th Venice Biennale and the 16th São Paulo Biennial in 1980, focusing his work on social, ethical, and ecological research. In the 1980s, he founded the Amazon Archive, dedicated to the preservation of the rainforest and indigenous culture.
The exhibition features works submitted to the museum in response to a call for entries directed at Italian and international mail artists, who were invited to create a postcard using any medium to commemorate the artist and his archive. The program also includes opportunities for reflection on the value of Mail Art, with the participation of artists, critics, and organizers.
