Three days of live music, local flavors, and a focus on social and environmental issues: this is the spirit of the “CastHell Festival,” an event organized by the nonprofit association BG Rock that offers an experience blending musical culture, camaraderie, and community involvement.
The festival focuses on independent music, featuring bands that perform original songs inspired by rock, metal, and alternative sounds. In addition to the concerts, great emphasis is placed on showcasing local excellence through a locally sourced culinary offering, featuring traditional Bergamo dishes, vegan options, locally grown produce, and beers and wines produced exclusively by Bergamo-based producers.
Sustainability is one of the event’s defining features: the materials used during the event are compostable, with the goal of reducing the environmental impact and promoting a more mindful approach to fun and community life.
CastHell also dedicates space to organizations working in the fields of peace, human rights, and solidarity. Over the course of the three days, local and international organizations will take the stage to present their projects and raise public awareness about highly topical issues.
The program kicks off on Friday, July 3, with Bordelophone, Interludio, and Iron Mais, along with presentations by “Doctors Without Borders” and “ResQ.” On Saturday, July 4, “Amnesty Rock” will take place, featuring Elefanti, Newt, SpeedGoat, Vaeva, and Sharks in Your Mouth, as well as participation from “Amicizia Bergamo Palestina” and “Amnesty International.”On Sunday, July 5, there will also be a cultural event featuring the lecture “Rage Against —The True Middle Ages and Our Dark Centuries” by writer and popularizer Virginia Veludo (alias Rossa Perpendicolare), followed by concerts by Sir and the Ivanoe, Thomas Greenwood, Godzilla Was Too Drunk to Destroy Tokyo, and Austin TV. On the same day, “Rete per la Pace Bergamo” and “Emergency” will also speak.
Admission is free. A bar and food service featuring local, farm-to-table products will be available throughout the event.
