The Festival presents the 63rd edition “East & West – From Chopin to Arvo Pärt,” which will be held from April 27 to October 1. After immersing itself in the folklore of Latin countries, the Festival dedicates this edition to the repertoires of Eastern and Slavic Europe.
After immersing itself in the folklore of Latin countries, the Festival dedicates its 63rd edition to the repertoires and composers of Eastern and Slavic Europe. Alongside the immortal names of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Šostakovič and Scriabin, audiences will also encounter the voices of Bartók, Dvořák, Janáček and Arvo Pärt in a journey that combines tradition and contemporaneity, as the subtitle expresses.
On the stages of the two cities – in Brescia of the Teatro Grande and Teatro Sociale, which fully enters the Festival’s venues, and in Bergamo of the Teatro Donizetti and the Sociale in Città Alta – the best pianists on the international scene will take turns: Grigory Sokolov, Mikhail Pletnëv, Jan Lisiecki, Lilya Zilberstein, as well as young talents whom the Festival is proud to introduce to its audiences.
Main novelty in 2026 will be a ‘long tail’ of the 63rd edition with two leading events in the fall. Two extraordinary events coming out of the Festival’s traditional period: the return of Yuja Wang, accompanied by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra on Sept. 8 at Teatro Donizetti, and that of Beatrice Rana, starring in a recital at Brescia’s Teatro Sociale on Oct. 1.
