The plot unfolds during the war between Thebes and Argos, which pits the brothers Eteocles and Polynices against one another. In the wake of the conflict, a law is enacted that grants a burial with honors for Eteocles but prohibits any ceremony for Polynices\u2019 body, with the penalty of death for anyone who disobeys.    <\/p>\n<h3>Plot and Themes<\/h3>\n<p>Antigone, who is deeply attached to both of her brothers, decides not to accept the verdict and chooses to face her own fate. The play explores civil disobedience and the absence of forgiveness, examining the dynamics of what are today referred to as toxic relationships.
