This \u201cballad for a tree\u201d is the moving story of a cherry tree\u2014its leaf-daughters, its antenna-like branches, its sensitive roots, its fleeting blossoms, and its mouthwatering fruits. But above all, it is a metaphor for the seasons of a passing life, and only those who remain young at heart can appreciate the beauty of each day. <\/p>\n
Together with him, looking out the windows of a small country school, the children discovered and observed\u2014with their eyes and hearts\u2014the life of a cherry tree, and wrote its entire story by putting themselves in the shoes of an intrepid little leaf \u201cFlag\u201d that defies Fate to discover the rules of the seasons and how the earth continues to bear fruit and regenerate itself season after season. <\/p>\n
This children\u2019s novel with an ecological theme blends poetic tones with humorous and entertaining situations; it\u2019s a story that moves both adults and children alike, and it offers a simple way to understand the perpetual motion of natural cycles\u2014cycles that humans often overlook with their detached approach to time.<\/p>\n
