be considered one of the most fascinating in Bergamo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\"><span>Right from the fa\u00e7ade, which is mostly made of irregular live stone, it is striking for its ancient and bare appearance.<br \/>\nThe entrance portal is rectangular, flanked by two small windows and surmounted by a fresco depicting the saint and the Virgin, underlying in turn a large window.<br \/>\nOn the wall, the round arches of three ancient entrances, later walled up, can still be clearly seen.  <br \/><\/span>The church also shows simplicity from an architectural point of view: in fact, it possesses a rectangular plan with a single nave, covered by a very low vault.<br \/>\nInside one can admire a neoclassical altar, a painted wooden choir, remnants of <strong>15th-century frescoes<\/strong> but, above all, a series of <strong>early 19th-century canvases<\/strong> depicting episodes from the saint&#8217;s life, in stucco frames.<br \/>\nThe pilasters and other decorative frames are in faux marble.<br \/>\nFinally, on the ceiling of the vault, frescoes, also from the 19th century, simulate the presence of a dome through a <em>trompe-l&#8217;oeil<\/em> effect.   <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\"><span>Also part of the building are a small square bell tower, located to the northeast, and a sacristy.<br \/>\nUnder the church there are also underground rooms, at ground level on the side of St. Erasmus alley. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span> the left window<\/strong><span>.<br \/>\nQui, infilato in una fessura e fissato a una catenella, c\u2019\u00e8 una corta spada di metallo che si pu\u00f2 facilmente estrarre.<br \/>\nUn avvertimento?<br \/>\nUna sorta di Spada nella Roccia?   <br \/><\/span>None of this!<br \/>\nIt was actually used &#8211; and is still used today &#8211; for alms.<br \/>\nThe slot from which it is drawn is dedicated to offerings: worshippers drop coins into the slot and then make sure they have fallen into the box by using the small sword.<br \/>Perhaps not as glamorous as a legendary sword,
