BERGAMOSCIENZA 2020

BERGAMOSCIENZA 2020

Description

The popular science festival is back with a pre-festival and an eighteenth digital edition.

The event for science enthusiasts of all ages returns with a program full of conferences, workshops, shows and virtual tours.

Like always, there will be some Nobel Prize winners, this year 5: Elizabeth Blackburn, guest for the first time, 2009 Nobel Prize in Medicine, and those who will make a welcome return such as Barry Marshall, 2005 Nobel Prize in Medicine; Martin Chalfie, 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry; Craig Mello, 2006 Nobel Prize in Medicine; Jack Szostak, 2009 Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Among the other important guests will be marine biologist Mariasole Bianco, biologist Francesca Garaventa, astronaut Luca Parmitano, Earth and Planet Sciences expert Naomi Oreskes, psychologist Diana Reiss, biologist, physiologist, ornithologist, anthropologist and geographer Jared Mason Diamond and neuroscientist James H. Fallon.

Various themes will be explored during the numerous scheduled conferences: climate and the protection of the planet, cellular aging, digital sociability, the aging of society and cyber security are just a few.

Two new and important additions this year: the presence of young communicators of the SuperQuark + broadcast, which will animate various festival activities involving even young children, and exclusive virtual tours: the workshops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, artist Henry Moore’s study, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the CERN laboratories.
