OLIVO BARBIERI EXHIBITION. EARLY WORKS 1980-1984

OLIVO BARBIERI EXHIBITION. EARLY WORKS 1980-1984

Description

The photographic exhibition reveals unprecedented glimpses into daily life in small and large Italian urban centres in the early 1980s.

The exhibition, proposed by the MIA Foundation and curated by Corrado Benigni, features fifty photographs taken by the famous Emilian artist between 1980 and 1984. Some of the exhibits were part of "Viaggio in Italia - Journey in Italy", a project conceived in 1984 by Luigi Ghirri, which marked a prodigious turning point in Italian photography. In the images on display, Barbieri already addresses themes re-proposed in subsequent works, including: aerial views, artificial lighting in the contemporary city, the interior spaces of bars and homes and signs of the landscape.

The exhibition is accompanied by a series of photographs representing aerial views of four major cities: Milan, Rome, Beijing and Shanghai.
