GUIDED TOUR OF THE GANDINO BASILICA MUSEUM

GUIDED TOUR OF THE GANDINO BASILICA MUSEUM

Description

Guided tours of the Gandino Basilica Museum resume: an opportunity to admire the works kept in one of the oldest museums of its kind!

Opened in 1929 and subsequently expanded in 1963 and 1988, the museum preserves works of artistic value and high-end jewellery that have been donated to Gandino’s churches from the 15th century to the present day.

In the sacred art section you can find Italian and foreign works coming mostly from central Europe: sacred furnishings, vestments, tapestries, monstrances, chalices, paintings and a wonderful silver foil altar; all exhibited in different rooms, a gallery and an art gallery.

An unmissable place for fans of sacred art and more. The museum also includes a section of nativity scenes, named after Pope John Paul II, and a section of textile archeology, an industry that has characterised and enriched the Gandino Valley.

WHEN

Open to the public and guided tours to the sacred art section every Saturday and Sunday from 2.30pm to 6.30pm from 20/6 to 31/10.

WHERE

Piazza della Emancipazione 9, Gandino
