GREMEI MOUNTAIN REFUGE

GREMEI MOUNTAIN REFUGE

Description

The Gremei mountain refuge is located on Monte Torcola Vaga in the locality of Gremelli, in the upper Brembana Valley. You can get there using the chair lifts at the Piazzatorre-Monte Torcola ski area (Bremboski area), at the starting point of the Pista del Bosco and at the arrival point of the highest Gremei and Panoramica slopes.

From the large clearing at 1550m above sea level, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of some of the most beautiful Orobic peaks, including the Pizzo Tre Signori. The refuge is the perfect resting place after a snowshoe hike, a descent or a summer excursion in the pine forest. The courteous staff and the typical traditional Alpine dishes will welcome you in the warm wooden rooms of its restaurant. Here, you can savour polenta, braised meat, mushrooms and raclette made of cheeses from the valleys, not to mention the Bergamasco casoncelli, pizzoccheri from Valtellina and the frequent barbeques that are held outdoors. For a faster break, the refuge also offers a café and sandwich shop service.

The large Solarium Terrace allows you to taste the house specialties even outside, and to sunbathe on sunny days. Special events such as themed dinners (for holidays) and night snowshoeing with chairlift descent are held at certain times of the year.

For those who want to learn to ski, the refuge also has a ski school. Nothing is missing!

For themed dinners, there is usually a fixed price menu. Children can take advantage of a children's menu and, in summer, there are inflatable games set up on the lawn adjacent to the refuge.

The restaurant also serves dishes for celiacs, vegetarians and vegans.

For groups and special events please check the possibility of booking by contacting the property.

It is possible to reach the refuge either by chairlift, leaving the car in the parking lot near the lower station, or on foot. If you go up on foot, follow path 121, which starts from the area near Hotel Pinete in Piazzatorre and goes up towards Torcola Vaga ascending among the pine forests. The trip lasts approximately one hour and has an elevation gain of 445m.

Starting from the Gremei Refuge you can hike to the Torcole 2000 Refuge (1780m).
