Locanda Viola

Locanda Viola

Description

We are Giulia and Filippo.

Giulia in the dining room and Filippo in the kitchen. This is a little story of why we decided to "set out on a journey" so many years ago now. A journey that is actually not over yet and that today is represented by Locanda Viola, our home. A place where we can welcome you, where we can meet.

The meeting: understood in its deepest meaning.

THE GRANDMOTHERS: everything starts from here

On a journey that brought us "back home."

We are very attached to the memory of our dear grandmothers, Filippo's grandmother named Celestina, a woman with a strong and determined character, and Giulia's grandmother, Erminia, a woman with a strong temperament who grew up behind the counter of a family tavern.

From here the desire to want to remember and celebrate them every day in this place.

That is why the name Locanda Viola came about.

Locanda is where people from the most varied social classes meet, an emblematic place, offering a cross-section of society.

Viola named after Giulia's great-grandmother, Viola Maria, who owned an inn in Treviglio. Widowed during the war, she carried on the business alone. And it was there that Giulia's grandmother, Erminia, worked with her other three sisters.

And why precisely in Pagazzano?

Because it is where Filippo's grandmother started her business after the war, opening a little place of her own to which she was very attached.

Our desire is to make our guests feel at ease, as if they were at home. Welcoming them on our journey, sharing the flavors, scents and aromas of the places we have lived and the experiences we have learned from the people we have met.

OUR JOURNEY, OUR DREAM

Love is what has united us since January 2010 as we set off on a journey that has turned into a fantastic adventure!

From Praia da Pipa in Brazil passing to New Zealand which was our home for a good six years, a powerful experience that made us grow professionally working for the Relais & Chateaux Otahuna Lodge in the beautiful South Island.

From there we went on to other smaller adventures discovering Asia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bali, Malaysia and to work on the SilverSea cruise ship partner Relais & Chateaux, before returning to Italy in December 2016.

But we did not return home,  we went  to Norcia in beautiful Umbria, which at the time had just been hit by the earthquake. There we worked for the Relais & Chateaux Palazzo Seneca and Vespasia restaurant-a unique experience where the Michelin star was reconfirmed for two consecutive years.

In January 2019 we decided to pursue our dream and in June 2022 we joined the prestigious Michelin guide, and here we are: welcome to our home!
