ARCATE D’ARTE. consonance of theatre, culture and art

Description

In the enchanting Carmine Monastery in Upper Bergamo, 28 shows including 4 national premieres and 10 film screenings as well as conferences and workshops.

This year's program includes two major themes: Asian art on the one hand and, on the other, classical western theatre revisited according to contemporary theatre trends.

The boundaries are investigated between theatre and dance, those between East and West, between ritual and art, between literary theatre and contemporary languages, between visual arts and cinema.

The Festival opens on 1st June with "East is East?", in collaboration with the Summer Dance Festival, which includes: "On the back of the turtle" (1st, 2nd, 3rd June at 9.30pm), "Beyond Time" (8th and 9th June at 9.30pm); "Rising" (26th June at 9pm), at Teatro Sociale; "Borders and contemporary languages of movement" (28th June 28 at 9pm). "The Indian theatre-dance between tradition and innovation" conference by Professor Ashish Khokar and "From Chennai to New York" (both 27th June from 9pm).

The "Focus Pina" project closes the collaboration with the Summer Dance Festival with the national premiere of "Rencontre fictive dans un bar réel" by and with Urs Stauffer (6th July at 6.30pm). It is followed by "Nelken-line", a performance that recreates the famous walk choreographed by Pina Bausch herself.

In the "3 classics" section there will be "A.P. Chekhov: three sisters "(June 29 at 9 pm); "After the fire. Dramaturgy of fragments "(29th June at 11am); "The Yoricks. Comic Intermezzo "(11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 19th, 20th, 21st July at 9.30pm) dedicated to the art of the clown; "Hyppolitus" (26th and 27th July at 9.30pm) national premiere of the show "Tragedy and tragic body" (July 27th 11am).
