Jenny Holzer – Tutta la verità (The Whole Truth)

Description

The doors of the Palazzo della Ragione, in Piazza Vecchia, open to contemporary art and host "Tutta la verità - The Whole Truth". The exhibition is dedicated to the American artist Jenny Holzer and curated by Lorenzo Giusti, director of GAMeC – Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art.

It is the return to Italy of one of the most influential international artists, who brings her subversive momentum between the walls of the Sala delle Capriate, where the city's justice was administered.

We recall the Truisms of Holzer, of the late seventies which caused a sensation, her use of the written word as a means of reflection and creative expression. Her verses, a sharp tool of criticism on political and social issues. At the centre the reflection on the mystification of the reality operated by the media.

A series of luminous projections are on display, with the verses chosen by the artist, dedicated to the themes of identity, gender and the migration crisis.

The installation will include nine marble benches arranged in the centre of the room, creating a resting place where you can stop and observe the illuminated walls and the sentences engraved on the benches themselves.
