...in the Mines Ecomuseum in Colere. It contains part of the very long work history, often very hard, which has marked the life of the Scalve Valley’s inhabitants. Inaugurated in July 2008, the Ecomuseum is the result of the redevelopment of the former Laverie in the locality of Carbonera. It was the place where the minerals were washed (hence its name, lavare means to wash in Italian), especially fluorite, extracted from the tunnels of the Presolana.
It has been dedicated to Domenico Giovanni Alberto Belingheri (known as Zanalbert), a miner and historical manager of the Albani Mountain Refuge.
Structured on three levels, the Ecomuseum houses, on the first floor, a collection of materials, memories and equipment, part of the miners' daily life.
Then there is a vast assortment of minerals and fossils that shows visitors the type of territory characterising this corner of Valley.
On the second level is the perhaps most surprising part of the structure, the faithful reconstruction of a "washing tub". Here, you can see water that noisily flows along the canal (used at that time) and then falls back into a collection tank made even more enchanting by a special lighting system.
There are also rooms reserved for educational workshops with independent access. On the third level is the conference room, with exposed trusses, for multipurpose use but particularly suitable for setting up cultural events.
Outside there are parking areas, pedestrian accesses, a picnic area and a green space enriched by the presence of mine wagons.
It should be noted that the project for the creation of the Ecomuseum also took into account the eco-sustainability factor. It was built using non-harmful materials such as wood, local stone and slate.
