The Maslana Flora and Fauna Observatory

The Maslana Flora and Fauna Observatory

Description

Created out of passion and managed with passion, the Maslana Observatory is located in Valbondione at an altitude of 1340 metres: an ideal vantage point if you want to admire the mountain peaks and lakes that surround them. The Observatory was built using local materials on the remains of an old cabin used by shepherds during mountain grazing. It has a photovoltaic system for electricity and a wood-fired stove for heating.

The aim of this structure is to teach love and respect for the mountains: to do so, it organises dedicated educational courses, with lessons about botany, zoology, geology and hiking. A unique opportunity to learn the secrets guarded by territories that are millions of years old.

The Observatory can accommodate up to 50 seated people and can be reached by following the road, some of which is a dirt road, that leads to the Curò mountain refuge, or passing through the Maslana cabins, after taking the path near the Enel cableway.
