Located inside the Basilica of San Martino in Treviglio, originally from the fifth century and then expanded over time. The Polyptych dates back to the period between the late 15th and early 16th centuries, painted by Bernardino Butinone and Bernardo Zenale.
Its excellent conservation happened by chance. It was moved from above the altar to its feet and the dim light of this new position preserved it.
The wooden altarpiece is painted with a fake portico with Saints facing it; in the centre we see Saint Martin giving his coat to a poor man.
You can recognise the Gothic elements by the abundant use of gold and the Renaissance ones through the composition of the figures. A particular but very successful combination!
