There was a time when the Cavallina Valley was dotted with mills that took advantage of the rushing waters of the Cherio river. Now they have all disappeared, except one: Grone's Acqua Sparsa mill, which still grinds on using hydraulic and electrical energy.
The good news is that you can visit it and look closely at this well preserved wooden structure from the 1930s, nestled in a green oasis far from city life.
Do you know why it is called Acqua Sparsa or "scattered water"? Nearby there are springs that dig small channels in the rock and then reach the wheel of the mill that brings together the waters and does not leave them "scattered". Follow the path of these crystalline filaments and you will reach the mill.
