Natural Oasis at the Pertus Pass

Natural Oasis at the Pertus Pass

Description

The Pertus is located 1193 meters above the sea level and can be reached by numerous trails going up on both sides. It is also called “Passo degli Spagnoli” – “The Pass of the Spanish”, because the Spanish troops passed through it back in 1529 to set the city of Lecco free by the enemy siege.

From its top, you can enjoy a breath-taking landscape by following the profiles of Lombard Alps: from the Resegone, the Grigne and the Pizzo dei Tre Signori in Lecco’s province, to the peaks of Mount Rosa, famous for its eastern side, which is the most prominent one in the Alps and the only one featuring Himalayan dimensions.

Right beneath the Mount Tesoro, at the Forcella Alta, you can visit the Pertus Lake enclosed by a fence, while a small chapel called “G. Costa” has been built nearby by the Italian Alpine Troopers.

The plain hosting the small lake is the perfect place to relax, to have a picnic and enjoy the landscape.

However, we recommend you to visit this place also during the wintertime! In fact, you can come practicing cross-country skiing surrounded by enchanting sceneries.
