MOUNTAIN REFUGE BENIGNI

MOUNTAIN REFUGE BENIGNI

Description

On the border between the Brembana and Gerola Valleys, the Benigni Mountain Refuge is located on a rocky plain at 2222m next to Lake Piazzotti. Between rocks, meadows and ponds, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Bregaglia mountain range’s high peaks and the stunning valley. Two giants can be admired from the refuge: Disgrazia and Badile emerge from Valtellina.

To arrive at Benigni you can start from Cusio, walking up along path 108, commonly called "Sciòcc", getting there in a couple of hours. Another option is to start from Ornica and go up the Salmurano Valley in about 4 hours along path 107.

Stage 101 of the Western Orobie, it is the ideal destination for different kinds of excursions: a simple day trip and climb to the top of Valpianella, the thrill of an overnight stay at high altitude in the refuge or the crossing of the Orobie.

The shelter has 20 beds and the indoor dining room can accommodate 45 people, while there are 20 external seats.
