Going up the Seriana Valley, you will find a dark cliff along the street. Gromo is right over there: one of Italy’s most beautiful hamlets.

Go walk across its medieval alleys, and it will be like going back in time. You could even find a smith hammering at his anvil: in fact, during the Middle Age smithies were so numerous here that Gromo started to be called “The little Toledo”, a city renowned for the white weapons manufacture. 

Go visit the lovely Museum of White Weapons and Parchments (“Museo delle Armi Bianche e Pergamene”), inside Palazzo Milesi, and discover the beautiful armours and weapons displayed.


The simple and unrefined grey stone feature the streets of this ancient hamlet. The roofs are still built using slate, which is typical of Bergamo’s mountains. There is no sophisticated decoration on these buildings: simplicity is the main feature of Gromo!

However, the most curious and attentive tourists can also find some sophisticated gems, such as the XVI Century frescos in the Church of the Saints Giacomo and Vincenzo.

While walking up and down the hamlet, don’t forget about the environment all around you: in fact, it takes only 10 minutes by car to reach the alpine ski slopes of Spiazzi di Gromo.

They are just perfect for skiing in the winter, but also great in the summertime, thanks to the beautiful forests and the exciting treetop adventure parks.

Butchers and delicatessen shops are waiting for you to purchase some delicious products: as an alternative, you can also take a seat in one of the village’s restaurants and enjoy the best local meals.

Gromo is part of the Orange Flag Villages, a touristic-environmental quality recognition conferred by the Italian Touring Club (TCI) to small towns in the Italian hinterland (maximum 15,000 inhabitants) which stand out for their excellent offer and quality hospitality.
