LAGHI GEMELLI MOUNTAIN REFUGE

LAGHI GEMELLI MOUNTAIN REFUGE

Description

Located at an altitude of 1968m, in the plain of the homonymous reservoir where the two original alpine lakes were unified, in the shade of Pizzo del Becco.

Highly recommended for the cuisine by chef Stefano Brignoli who in 2017 won first prize in the "A tavola in rifugio" competition with the dish "pasta al paruk with strachitunt sauce", or green pasta with wild alpine spinach and Taleggio Valley cheese sauce.

Excellent starting point for many high-altitude excursions, one above all: the tour of the numerous alpine lakes. A break on the shore of an alpine mirror is a must during the hot summer days. Lake Colombo and Lake Casere are destinations for many fishermen.

The Laghi Gemelli Mountain Refuge is the first stage of the Eastern Ring Orobie Path: from here you can continue to the Calvi refuge in 4 hours, along path 213.

The fastest access is from the Brembana Valley: taking path 215 you arrive in 2 hours starting from the Mezzeno Mountain Cabin, above Roncobello; it takes 3 hours starting from Carona, following path 211 and 3 and a half hours on path 212 starting from Branzi.

There are also those arriving from Valcanale, in 4 hours following path 216, or from Valgoglio in 5 hours to Valsanguigno on path 232.
